Katie Rife AV Club The script is just as lazy as the acting, leaning on a fitfully applied, Scream-esque meta subplot to justify why the hell we're all here in the first place. Rated: C- Oct 26, 2017 Full Review Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine The Awakening often feels as if it's starting all over again from scene to scene, drinking in Belle as she wanders one shadowy corridor after another. Rated: 2/4 Oct 22, 2017 Full Review Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting The Awakening suffers in large part because Khalfoun sticks to familiar possession tropes, but also because he refuses to embrace the interesting facets of his narrative...The result is bland; this is a movie that just is. Rated: 2/5 Jul 31, 2023 Full Review Grethe Kemp Channel24 (South Africa) She (Bella Thorne) is the clichéd Goth girl incarnate, made even more laughable by the fact that almost no teenager in 2017 still wears the studded belts and corset tops that is Belle's "sad girl" costume. Rated: 1/5 Jan 7, 2020 Full Review Víctor López G. Espinof A vulgar exercise of terror that, despite its defects, manages to stand out from its delectable predecessors. [Full Review in Spanish] Jul 30, 2019 Full Review Francisco Marinero El Mundo (Spain) The director and screenwriter could not be concerned to narratively justify the very obvious incidents. James B In my opinion it's the best Amityville film as it is a modern sequel with good special effects and a nice meta edge to it like scream. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Tim M A choppy, inept attempt at resurrecting the franchise, Amityville: The Awakening ought to have stayed dormant. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review R-T T Amityville Awakening is an extremely embarrassing movie that I again don't want to comment on Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Steve D quite cheap despite some strong talent. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review KerryWhite's S Rating: 6/10. 64/100 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
