Sparsh H 11/10/2023 The story is very flawed and twists are forcefully added to move the plot forward. It lacks the strong character and protagonist is almost like a cardboard character here. There is no dept, no dimensions to his character. Anand L. Ray's production is known to produce quality entertainers with unique stories, but this one is very poorly written and poorly executed. See more Suprateek A 09/01/2023 After avoiding the film for nearly eight months I wanted to give this film a shot and here are my thoughts. The action sequences in the film were just amazing and has some great action from Bollywood after a long time.The parkour sequences were my favourite. Although they are good few of them felt like a roadblock to me which I didn't appreciate. The performances of Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat were really good and they do leave a great impression on the audiences. But the rest failed to do the same. My feelings towards the film are fairly mixed and felt that the writing could've been better. There was this one character reveal which has no impact due to the writing. The film's suspense couldn't hold my attention which was the biggest letdown. Although the debutant Anirudh Iyer did a decent job I feel like this should've been a Sriram Raghavan film. The ending in my opinion saved the film because I actually liked it and found it interesting. Due to that I left the film feeling a bit satisfied. I wish the satire and the dark humour presented in the film was as good as it was in the ending. But in the end the film was able to put its point across in a fairly decent film. Some call it underrated few call it a waste of time but I fall in the category of people who thinks it's a one time watch. See more India's 1 C 02/03/2023 An Action Hero is probably the most clever, the most layered, the most well-written, the most thrilling, the most ambitious, the most funny and above all, the most thoroughly entertaining action movie ever produced in India. With its relevant satire of the news media, the gullible general population (us), cancel culture (#boycottbollywood) and much more perfectly woven into an original, brilliant plot brought to the silver screen with impeccable cinematography, 3-dimensional characters, and an incredible soundtrack with lyrics that take on a whole new meaning in the context of the film (even the remakes of Bach Ke Rehna Re Baba and Aap Jaisa Koi were used very intelligently). Even when the dialogues are corny/cheesy, they are intentionally so, as An Action Hero is also a love letter to action movies of the past. All in all, whether you want to watch it for its thrilling action, its insightful social commentary or even its killer soundtrack, please do so at your earliest convenience. You'll thank me later.
