Here, the humour is less raw, more calculated to deliver warm, fuzzy feelings. And director Daniel Reisinger can’t resist giving east London a bit of the old Richard Curtis treatment. Still, there’s a knockout supporting cast. Go to Full Review

This is obviously bittersweet, but I found it quite endearing with an excellent supporting cast. Go to Full Review

Its blend of a comedic sensibility with the organic handling of its affecting crux results in a sweet, unforeseeable effort that will make you cry as much as it will cackle. Go to Full Review

The sweetest, funniest movie about necrogamy I can think of. Go to Full Review

And Mrs. overloads on schmaltz in an outdated concept that a woman can't feel fulfilled unless she's married. Everything looks fake in this messy romantic comedy about a woman who wants to marry her dead fiancé. Go to Full Review

While no one was expecting Harold and Maude-levels of risk and reward, Reisinger’s occasionally amusing film takes a well-meaning idea and drowns it in strained comedy, removing too much of the real-life messiness from it. Go to Full Review

Andi J Jul 1 What an exquisite movie! I’m a griever and this movie is everything; funny, interesting, thoughtful, sad, and loving. Watch it for the fine acting, storytelling and script; all wonderful. See more Dave R Apr 9 Very poor on humour and I like Aisling B but this is an F for me, not the acting but everything else.. See more Jan 3 Why is it funny to have a dead groom? See more eliza H 11/19/2024 It's really lame; people pandering to a woman whose partner dies, and she still wants to marry him. So much sugar that leaves a bad taste in the mouth See more Kathy W 11/09/2024 Funny, sad, great actors, loved the scenery across London. Really enjoyed it. Made me smile. Songs good too. See more Charlotte B 11/05/2024 My usual genre of choice is strictly within the category of happy, funny, comfortable romcoms. I watched this despite knowing it would this would be more of a bittersweet story than happy due to the lead cast member, Aisling, being in it, who I like a lot. I thought the depictions of love in relationships, friendships and family were more real and relatable than in most romances and especially within stories of grief. It’s the antithesis of the usual picture of lost love (montage footage of dead wife running through a field in slow motion, laughing in close-up, baking in sundress) that feels harder to relate to, compared to a real relationship. I think it’s the contrast between a relationship not painted in sepia tones and extreme grief, that makes it that much more heartbreaking. It was a story in reverse for me, I didn’t feel an awful lot at the beginning with the clumsy paramedics down the stairs with cadaver scene. But as it progressed, it got progressively more heartbreaking, I was crying throughout the whole last 20 minutes or so. Great British comedy actors throughout, many familiar favourites made for moments of comfort in-between sad sadness. I thought they all did well at making a relatable story for those who have lost people to take some comfort in, with warmth and funniness never far away between the raw moments.
