What a wonderful movie! It's not just about gay romance, although that figures importantly, it's a view into a culture we as Americans know so little about, and what a tradition of dance and music. And yes, it's about breaking out of boundaries in every way: sexual, dance, culture. Tremendous directing, editing, acting, dancing, music. . . loved it!

And Then We Danced is tender, defiant, and quietly powerful. Set in Georgia’s strict dance world, it follows Merab, a young dancer torn between tradition and desire. The lead is subtle and affecting, and the choreography speaks volumes. Like Call Me by Your Name, it captures the thrill and ache of first love—but with a raw, urgent edge. Some moments feel familiar, and the pacing sags, but its sincerity and emotional impact still hit home.

I can feel the depth and the warmth in this movie, the struggle between musculine folk dance and self identity is very powerful. it just beautiful and touching. I watched it again and I think this is my favorite LGBT movie of decade.

This is quite a cultural film, featuring lots of Georgian dancing and singing (which I quite enjoyed). There are some nice settings too of course. Its also somewhat thought provoking, given the plotline. The cast were good and it was quite a good film overall, so yes I'd recommend it.
