Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic "Andover" is an ugly little romantic comedy that can't quite figure out what it wants to be, and perhaps not surprisingly comes up short in all its efforts. Evan G Agonizingly bad. Clearly the story is intended to be about grief at its core, but the protagonist is, at best, unsympathetic from start to finish (and at worst, a petulant psychopathic moron) so all emotional impact is lost. They must've realized their message was obscured, because they threw in ham-fisted scenes of the character discussing his grief with one of the worst therapists to appear in film. The dialogue is poor throughout, which might be excusable for for a silly rom-com, but this concept would be more appropriate for a psychological thriller. Worse still, the writers seem blissfully ignorant of the horrifying implications of the story, resulting in tonal dissonance galore, as sappy music swells over characters committing monstrous acts again and again that never even make sense. The protagonist becomes downright abusive, predatory, and violent, and we're expected to forgive and forget as he gets his happily ever, as if to say "you owe toxic abusers your sympathy!" Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/03/25 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly I enjoy this movie, silly but enjoyable the least, don't expect anything makes sense, don't complicate it, live a little. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Not as bad as it sounds but not the best. It does have everything you would expect for a futuristic romcom. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I cannot believe how idiotic this movie is, I couldn't stand even 20 minutes. Oh my god, the script oh my god, I hate it so much. Don't even waste your 5 minutes on this movie. If I could give it a %0, I'd do that gladly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Thought provoking movie that made a great date night movie! Watch it with Amazon Prime. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review nilufer e How could this movie be even worse? Oh I know, if you let the parents go; they were the only good thing this nonsense had. Who is the 88% that liked this movie? I dare them! I hated it so much. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
