Slant Magazine Andy Warhol: A Documentary Film may be half as long as Warhol's opus Sleep, but its overview of the pop aesthete's life and art is nothing if not encyclopedic. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 1, 2006 Full Review Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News We need all four hours, and even more, to understand the man who so prophetically divided the world into 15-minute increments. Rated: 3/4 Sep 1, 2006 Full Review Phil Gallo Variety Blessed with all the trademarks of a Burns brothers documentary, Ric Burns' look at the life of Andy Warhol is well researched, packed with rarely seen footage and loaded with eloquent observations. Aug 31, 2006 Full Review Doris Toumarkine Film Journal International Beyond all the archival material, the film benefits mightily from the many eloquent talking heads, whose words, incredibly, are always electrifying and revealing. Mar 1, 2007 Full Review Ken Fox TV Guide Burns devotes the bulk of the film to Warhol's '60s work, giving serious attention to the radical, often underacknowledged silent films he shot with the participation of the drag queens, speed freaks and high-society types who populated the Factory. Audience Member Warhol, it is made clear, was his own creation: QED, he only has himself to blame. Various pseudo intellectuals and poseurs leave semen stains on the lens. I give my third of a star for the wonderful pictures depicted from Warhol's graphic and fine art of the 1950's. Sadly the documentary is right about one thing: Warhol did represent late 20th C America Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member What you expect from PBS, expansive and informative. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member an incredible deep documentary portrait of one of the most notable artists of the twentieth century. a very, very long doc that encompasses his entire life, and really feels that it doesn't leave anything out. for fans of warhol or art, this is an interesting watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The Wahol Factory will be always a very interesting movement of art Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member An incredibley well put together documentary on modern art's most idiosyncratic genius, Andy Warhol, the man who challenged us not to just see the artifice, but to see the light! A clever film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An in intriguing film on the man who had more then his 15mins of fame. Must see!
