Namrata Joshi The Hindu Pavleen Gujral is a revelation and Sarah-Jane Dias shows admirable poise. Jan 2, 2019 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star Despite some lack of focus (there is a lot going on) and occasional oversold dramatics (the exception is Brick Lane's Tannishtha Chatterjee as activist Nargis), these Goddesses are crowd pleasers ... Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 25, 2016 Full Review Kate Taylor Globe and Mail It works, partly because the Indian cinema, accustomed to epics encompassing musical, comedy and tragedy, has a sprawling sensibility and partly because the script, for all its sunshine and sentiment, has actually built to its startling conclusion. Rated: 3/4 Aug 12, 2016 Full Review Rahul Desai CatchNews At its core is the half-broken heart of an angsty, disruptive, take-no-prisoners crusader. Rated: 3/5 Feb 7, 2019 Full Review Andrew Parker The Gate As vital and memorable as it is emotionally stirring and entertaining. Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Mohar Basu The Times of India Alas, the story is never supported by a solid screenplay. The film's pace is a problem and though things gear up in the second half, it ends as a loopy mess. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 7, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Not a perfect movie by any standard, but lovable character and fantastic acting elevates this movie into a heart warming experience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is one of those that beautifully balances a poetic understanding of elements of many womens' lives that are too often underrepresented in movies. The safety and adventure that sisterhood brings was fairly portrayed and we all were offered an insight into the struggles that we all carry which normally don't see the light. The cinematography was gorgeous, the justice scene towards the end correlated with the title of the movie too. I don't agree with many people who have commented on this movie's attempt to take on various stories - I think that it was done tastefully, thoughtfully, empathically, and if we view from the framework that each person has their own delightful story that we want to learn about, then it is absolutely believable - my own friend circles are similar in their depth and variety in many ways, too. Absolutely recommend this!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member incredibly moving and powerful film! the quality of the relationship between each woman feels so true --- as is the collective story of experience. critics are nonsensical to give such poor ratings to this film -- maybe give some insipid movies better ratings but then this you poopoo? right. i'm glad i don't pay much attention to critics because this movie is epic and gorgeous!! bravooooooooo!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review mir o Good movie. Kinda slow. Important message. Vague ending. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Angry Indian Goddesses might be uneven in places, but the final gut punch it delivers more than makes up for any missteps. It is a film that does not shy away from the harsh and misogynistic realities that are daily realities for so many women, particularly in India which has some of the highest rates of child marriage and gang rapes in the world. The dynamic opening sequence says it all. These women are angry, they are done fitting into the traditional image of the meek and quiet wife. This opening sequence is the film's thesis statement. As each of the central characters are objectified, belittled and harassed, each one fights back, literally. They are physical, they get in their harassers' faces, they hit back. While there are moments that can feel a bit preachy when the film simply becomes a group of women talking about their perceived lesser status in society, there is an unforgettable dynamic to these women and their refusal to be anything less than full fledged human beings. It is at times brutal and violent, but that's the point. Women will respond to violence with their own, because they are done being passive victims. This final statement is professed with such strength, that it doesn't matter if the film falls flat and drags a bit in the middle. Angry Indian Goddesses is not a film you will easily forget. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A well drawn portrait of the indian women oppression and their lake of freedom regarding their thoughts, needs, hobbies, eat. The movie's progression is too predictable sometimes; the ending scene is too cliché... but it depaints a reality I did not, do not and will not know as a french women living in France, isn't it?
