Audience Member A direct to video erotic thriller for the late night channel switchers. This delivers in the nudity department with lots of soft-core antics. Shannon Whirry and Delia Sheppard are both impressive specimens but this is nothing more than a bad movie dressed up with (lots of) nudity. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member A cop uses his wife to put a local politician into a compromising position. Features a stellar cast of b-movie favourites, although largely limited to smaller roles. The plot is somewhat threadbare, with much of the film filled with risqué encounters rather than any plot advancement; viewers will more likely be interested in the exciting debut of newcomer Shannon Whirry. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Crumbling marriage experiences a rebirth when husband catches wife cheating. Rather than seek counselling, they decide to set up a side venture where she performs as a prostitute in their house while he watches on video feed in another room. Considered a classic for the genre judging by the prices this one fetches on eBay but for my money, "Mirror Images 2" is the gold standard for the genre and Shannon Whirry fans. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Back in the day when video rental stores dominated the home entertainment world, small production companies would crank out low budget thrillers or dramas with sexy stars who showed a lot more skin than you'd likely see during your average theatrical release. These films usually went direct-to-video, or DTV, and borrowed similar titles or stories from mainstream hits hoping the familiarity (or misidentity) would result in a rental. Contrary to many of today's streamlined late-night cable flleshfests, these DTV flicks tried to tell an actual story and the participants tried to act. Naturally the number of failures were abundant on both counts. But hey, on the other hand, they have boobies! Animal Instincts ranks among the most popular from the golden age of DTV not because of its stylish look, fashionable clothes, nor guest cast which includes the slimy looking David Carradine as a slimy acting nightclub owner. Its preeminence is due to the spectacular starring debut of softcore queen Shannon Whirry who shone briefly but oh so brightly. Truly this woman had a body to be seen to be believed and wasn't going to let some flimsy fabric get in the way of an audience's appreciation. As for acting, well, turns out there were more than two good reasons why she got roles in movies of this stature. To her credit, in a 1998 interview she noted, "If a part called for any type of nudity, I would at least make sure that the woman was smart and powerful. I've never just whipped off my top and run down a hallway." This is very true, including this character Joanne who has her way with a string of men. The story is easy to get into because of Shannon's seductive qualities which makes for a steamy good watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
