Birithivy Y Anjaan - 4/10. Poor Linguswamy. His press tour for Anjaan is one of the biggest example of how you should never overhype your movie. Not just that, but also shows that sometimes over confidence can come back and bite you really badly. Anjaan is not an entirely terrible movie though. If Linguswamy had just hyped it as a commercially stylish movie (and not some path breaking “putting all my talents into one movie” movie) maybe people would have liked it way more. It sure is a visual treat, and Suriya’s swagger in this is awesome. But, its a story that reminds you too much of Baasha and other movies, and the comedy is just forced. Its a movie that just doesn’t hit you the way that it should sadly. Great music from Yuvan though! I love Surya (well every movie he's in except after 7 Aum Arivu) and also Linguswamy. First of all, Surya was good in the movie, no negatives for him. But other than that, this movie was boring, the romantic subplot was useless, I didn't love the fight scenes, and above all else, the twists. The twists in this movie are predictable or end up being idiotic. The villain was not great either. I was excited to see Vidyut Jamwal in a Tamil movie again, after Thuppakki and Billa 2, however his chemistry with Surya was horrible. Also, a particular scene in the film practically denotes his character as useless and weak, though he's not supposed to be that way.
