I remember this movie on all the time when I was a kid. My family would watch it together over and over. It's pretty good. I suppose it's not very original, but seeing as I have no other reference, that works for me.

This was a dismal, embarrassing and juvenile attempt at filmmaking from virtual every possible angle. The sole enjoyable moment of the movie was Vicellous Shannon's line about being not only the president of his weight-gain club, but also a client. The plotline was disjointed and indecisive. Presented as a military seafaring story, it quickly devolved into a bizarre amalgam of "Full Metal Jacket" meets "Rocky" littered with good actors doing terrible jobs, each acting as if they were delivering soliloquys in a high school chamber theater production starring only themselves. Cliche and predictable. I can't believe I sat through the whole thing.

You know how some movies are so bad they are good? Well it's not this one. We walked out about 50 min into it. Absolutely painful to watch James Franco be cast in this mess. Think of the worst after school special crashing into the worst Lifetime movie and the surging pieces reconstructed by a 7 year old.

People call this a boxing movie. I hate it when they call it that. Rocky is a boxing movie. This may border on the line of being that but it is so much more. This movie deals with over coming what many think of you. To look past the words and see the truth of ones self. If you truly watch the movie you can see the beauty and inspiration within it.
