Alison Herman The Ringer The final third of Thoughts and Prayers is a thrilling break from his established pattern, a near-20-minute meditation on public performance of sympathy in the wake of tragedy. Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Wesley Mead Den of Geek Jeselnik is a master of pulling the ground out from under the audience, though, and few of his trains of thought arrive at the destination you might predict: these are whirlwind jokes with punchlines that shock. Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Andrew Husband Uproxx If you're feeling the need to laugh and feel slightly terrible about yourself, then Thoughts and Prayers is the comedy special for you. Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Brett Smiley Thrillist On stage, Jeselnik is an unapologetically offensive jerk. Maybe in real life, too -- but on stage, the hostility is so offensive it's funny. If you're down for vulgar that borders on obnoxious, look no further. Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider With a slow swagger, and a slyer-than-sly grin that borders on smirktastic, all of Jeselnik's jokes test how "cool" his audience is. Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Anthony Jeselnik is one of the greatest comedians of all time, this special is one of the reasons why. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This was recommended to me by a Janitor who met Anthony and gushed over him. I should mention the Janitor is straight, because we need to address that since Anthony is very handsome, and is naturally gonna attract an audience. He's so handsome it's actually off-putting, as he definitely plays that "American Psycho" role perfectly. The Janitor said Anthony was shocked anyone thought he was funny, and was very humble and grateful, which is the complete opposite of the Anthony you see on stage. I watched this special twice. The first time I watched it--I quit my religious organization shortly thereafter. Something Anthony was joking about clicked, and it was like I was released from being a slave to my newfound religion which was exhausting and depressing. The second time I watched it, I couldn't identify what had such a great impact on me the first time, but, it doesn't matter. I enjoyed it, it made me laugh, and Anthony isn't such a psycho, which is probably what he doesn't want to hear. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing start, as his deadpan delivery and twists for punchlines can be hilarious. It does start to grate over a full hour though with every joke being fake. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/20 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant - witty and thought provoking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Best stand-up on Netflix, by far. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
