See more Shannon A @RT16350792 Aug 22 What a powerful movie! The acting is superb and it’s filmed at many of the locations where these events actually happened. I do not understand the lackluster reviews and ratings of this movie. One of many brave acts of resistance during World War II. Heroism and sacrifice for your country and your beliefs is well worth being remembered. These young men risked everything and sacrificed their lives and they were only in their early 30s. I am so glad that this movie was made, and I only wish people were more informed and interested in the events of World War II. You hear so often, why didn’t people fight back? The fact is that many did. Here’s one example of a very small group of people going up against a colossus of evil and the price they paid for doing so. I really recommend this movie! It was extremely graphic, but depicted one of the most courageous covert operations by the resistance that resulted in the assassination of the highest ranking SS officer who murdered thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. Cillian Murphy's and Jaime Dornan's portrayals emote courage, valor, and sacrifice. I'm sorry to learn it, nor they didn't earn the recognition so well deserved. The movie was made palatable for English speaking audiences while including a type of immersion many are not familiar with. Not to mention being made by an independent filmmaker. The film maker, Sean Ellis as well as others, wanted Anthropoid to be big. This movie was insanely ahead of its time, from the pacing, to the cinematography, to the acting, to the production value itself. Looking back, we don’t get a translation for the German language which throws you into the shoes of the parachutists even further. This movie is a hidden gem, and one of Cillian Murphy’s best films. I am in awe. This movie evoked raw emotion from me after not taking it seriously. This movie portrayed a tragedy within a tragedy that I don’t think many people are aware of. It was well acted and definitely deserved a bigger box office than it achieved. Seeing the work that went into the making of this movie makes you wonder how they achieved it for the small budget.
