Denzel Washington’s directorial debut is just as representational in handling Antwone Fisher’s therapeutic writing through their respective characters’ influential dynamic in confronting hidden confident strengths that are definitively rooted. Bolstered by precisive performances and emotional resonance built by thematic engagement, the layered story about confrontational healing of the self is cheerfully inspiring to a routine degree.
