Manny P As cheesy as it gets, they can't even die properly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/22 Full Review Liam D This is a perfect example of an Dad Weekend Movie and it's okay as that Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/21/21 Full Review Audience Member In most classic war movies, a very long, boring part of the movie (usually the beginning) is used to explain the purpose of a battle and the plans for it. The first 25 minutes Anzio simply introduces the main characters. There aren't very many battle scenes, but there are many suspenseful action scenes throughout the movie. The character that Robert Mitchum plays in this movie is one of my favorite characters he played in his career. The fact that the main character (the hero) of this movie is an unarmed war correspondent makes the movie very unique. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my favourite war films but is always way too underrated. Mitchum is great in the lead with other good performances including Falk, Gianini and Damon. It shows that even the photographers in the war could get too involved and drugged up by it all that it made them into leaders but killers. Some great intense thrills alongside a brilliant finale. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Mitchum phones it in. Almost an interesting picture, but not quite Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review ashley h Anzio is a decent film. It is about one of WWII's bloodiest battles as the Allies smash through the German lines which have enclosed the Anzio beachhead. Robert Mitchum and Peter Falk give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Edward Dmytryk did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Anzio is unusual in its ability to make the military strategy clear and interesting; instead of anonymous men wandering around chaotically, we get a coherent picture of the campaign's successes and failures.
