william k Strange, quite uneven, but interesting horror drama, based on a true story, never quite knows what it wants to tell not unlike its apprentice's inability to perceive reality; Donald Sutherland is always worth the watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The cover jacket is really awful and not at all representative of this rather good supernatural thriller, based in a sleepy Dutch town (Pennsylvania,1928). The story concerns an eccentric, pow-wow preacher, who plots to murder an evil hermit with the aid of his young apprentice. The whole episode is quite enthralling and actually based on a true story but if you need any further excuse to watch this, then it also stars the lovely Mia Sara and an animated performance by Donald Sutherland.
