Roxana Hadadi Punch Drunk Critics As much as April and the Extraordinary World veers around a little too often and gets too self-indulgent with its exposition, the film effectively builds a whole other steampunk-inspired world in which viewers can get lost, gas masks and all. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 9, 2017 Full Review Dmitry Samarov Chicago Reader Should appeal to precocious children... Adults may find it as derivative and simplistic as the steampunk aesthetic to which it's indebted, but for a gateway to more resonant cinema and literature, you could do worse. May 5, 2016 Full Review Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer April and the Extraordinary World will have your imagination doing somersaults and cartwheels. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 15, 2016 Full Review Josh Slater-Williams Vague Visages The extraordinary world of April and the Extraordinary World is no simple one, and it’s welcome that its worldview veers away from the simplistic. Georgan G This family movie uses beautiful animation, great voice acting and an interesting tale. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Alec B The plot is disappointingly predictable, relying a lot more on Hollywood clichés than you'd expect. However, the film presents some of the most workable and stunning Steampunk imagery you're likely to find. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Gbor G The world building in this movie is a joy to watch, but it's pulled down by its dull and unoriginal good-vs-evil theme and lack of character depth. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review pigeonheart u i saw this movie as a kid and fell in love. it's not groundbreaking, but the art is beautiful and the story interesting enough that it keeps you entertained. i think it's just so charming with its awkward protagonists and grey landscapes that you ultimately kind of like it, cause it's really one of a kind. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Existential and weird and then enormously compelling; superb voice performances Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Of its kind, this is almost perfect. Beautifully drawn (sometimes reminiscent of Hergé's Tintin), an engaging story, interesting and varied characters .. and a talking cat. Excellent.
