Mildly amusing froth, kept all the more buoyant by Farahani's deadpan reactions and immensely watchable face and fine comic timing from the rest of the ensemble... Go to Full Review

Arab Blues is an emotive story that explores the various personal histories of the characters, mixing comedy and urban drama to illustrate the life and situations of a city and a country. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

A tonal imbalance plays against a premise that's warm but not entirely memorable; a lost opportunity to dig into the contradictions of a woman exposed to the quandaries of a country in the midst of change. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

mary h 08/18/2024 Really wonderful film. The characters are realistic and balanced. So well done! See more isla s 09/03/2022 This is an amusing, fun watch. I enjoyed it. The main character is certainly an ambitious and likeable lady and the way the locals act around her, the assumptions they make are quite amusing. I don't suppose anyone much appreciates bureaucracy, which features in this film. Its not a heavy watch and I enjoyed it for that. I'd recommend this film, yes. See more 07/24/2021 There are a lot of flaws and the film is nothing really special but I like this "cultural differences" theme. See more 07/19/2021 An universal story set in Tunisia, very well directed, no Hollywood cliches, all the characters are tri-dimensional and it keeps you interested in the story all along. See more 07/26/2020 This movie has great acting, a wonderful concept and good cinematography. But it just misses being good when it could have been great. The concept is intriguing, and the problems faced by the characters are compelling, but they are never explored more than skin deep. The actors give it their best and you feel connected with them, but no more than passing acquaintances. If they spent more time exploring the depths of the various characters, this would have been a great, with a capital G, a great movie. As it is right now, it's ok to pass the time, but makes you wonder how much better it would have been with a good script writer.... See more Read all reviews
