Charles Solomon Los Angeles Times The patience of the audience - and the characters - is further tried by the leaden pacing, which makes the film feel like it was shot in slow motion. Dec 4, 2014 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Ms. Kirkland - a headstrong veteran performer who is nothing if not game - has proved that she can play this kind of role in her sleep. If only the movie around it were worthy of her efforts. Sep 11, 2014 Full Review Sam Weisberg Village Voice Archaeology of a Woman is a decidedly well-made, unnerving film. Sep 9, 2014 Full Review Joe Bendel Epoch Times A lot of good intentions and artistic courage went into Archaeology, but they never come together in a coherent whole. Rated: 2/5 May 23, 2016 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Mysterious, suspenseful, engrossing and foreboding. Sally Kirkland gives an unflinchingly raw, tender performance. Rated: 8.5/10 Sep 12, 2014 Full Review Doris Toumarkine Film Journal International Plot holes aside, Archaeology offers powerful performances from the female leads, who also happen to be incredibly convincing as mother and daughter. Audience Member An outstanding movie/thriller with award deserving performances! Thanks Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a deep and complex film. Coming out of the theater, a friend remarked that the confusion he felt reminded him of Bergman films. It also seemed to me to have more of a foreign than domestic flavor. Two days passed before I absorbed Sally Kirkland’s masterfully nuanced portrait of a strong and clever woman struggling to avoid what seems to be unavoidable disaster closing in on her as disease gradually robs her of the ability to protect herself. Now, I see this story as an empowering tribute to the ability of the human soul. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member really engrossing performances. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
