Mark H One of Most powerful movies that I've ever seen! This is a must see!!! Excellent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Cinematically, some of the scenes were outstanding. And, overall, the acting was quite good. Bettermann is a fine leading man. The trouble with the movie was its adaptation from the book which was about the many encounters and relationships he had with various persons in prison and during his arduous journey. There was enough material for a mini-series, however, the movie, which didn't want to leave out any of the source material, was spread so thin, it could provide only the briefest parts of each sub-story. It was boiled down to an adventure story with no inkling about the protagonist's inner life other than his desire to see his family again. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member My favorite movie. I highly recommend this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Fine story of post-war adversity and finely told despite a fairly low budget. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member good german movie about POW's escapong by foot from siberia Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent film,.It kind of reminded me of CALL OF THE WILD,.Musta been the terrain or the great amount of people he meets on his journey,,..Well acted,.Good characters,.Good direction,.The lead was excellent,.I just recommend it if you have any interest in the period and strife it took to do the things this guy did,.Much better than a similar movie called "The Way Back" with Jim Sturgess and Colin Farell,.I guess it helped that this was in German and Russian,.I like subtitles and listening to the REAL language that was spoken, makes it feel much more authentic than fake accents do.
