Cassie Vanderbilt, a self-destructive teen dealing with the death of her mother, a new stepmother, and a strained relationship with her father, continues to find her way into trouble. To reconnect with her, her father takes her away from the distractions and 'bad' influences of the big city where they live, to spend the summer in the beautiful, small-town countryside. But this small town has a terrifying, deadly, secret that has been buried for over a generation by the most notorious family in town. When Cassie's boredom and frustration lead her to the dangerous exploration of a farmhouse deep in the woods, she realizes that the price for uncovering the horrifying truth could cost them their lives!

In spite of not being that much heavy on the gore, Ash and Bone manages to put together a riveting Survival Horror flick that at the same time taps into the drama of a troubled family forced to bond under extreme circumstances.

The dialogue’s littered with cliches and grammatical abominations. Lines like “You’re not from around here, are you?” are a given. The plot is so old it qualifies for Social Security, the characters simple archetypes.

Overall, Ash and Bone is a solid horror film that will appeal to fans of the genre. While it has its flaws, the film delivers on the scares and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.

I don't understand these positive reviews. Are they paid for or something? It manages to string itself into a movie but that's about it. Cinematography? Well rounded characters? Plot twists? What the hell are you talking about? This is flat derivative stuff.

Many dimensions and this from a somewhat unknown independent film! A few key points.. How has this stayed out of the mainstream this long!? The story is the Family not the Villains The violence isn't glorified or gratuitous The characters are well fleshed out and defined Visual story is strong Score and effects on point Great lighting and camera work loved it!!

Laughably bad. Positive reviews must have been left by associates of the film. Writing and acting is memorable for all the wrong reasons. Just awful. Actress playing teenage daughter must be 25 years old. Bad, bad, bad movie.
