StephenPaul C The greatest 01 hour: and 48 minutes based on actual events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Super relevant story for this political climate. This is the story of what it was like for women to get an abortion in the 60's. It's going to be worse than that from here on out if ordinary citizens do not step up and make sure that abortion is kept legal. I implore people to watch, spread the word and, if you haven't taken an active stand to date, do so now before it's too late. Low budget indie film, well done. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie could not be more timely. The director and producers of the film did an amazing job detailing the true story of these women who banded together to ensure those who needed access to safe abortions were able to before it was made legal. The cast was absolutely fabulous and I think the ladies of the "Jane Collective" would be so proud to see their story come to the big screen in this way. This film also serves as a warning of where things are headed if we don't come together and fight back against those determined to take away our reproductive freedom! After all, what woman wouldn't want to protect her reproductive freedom and choice of WHEN, IF, or SHOULD SHE WANT TO HAVE A CHILD?! Not every woman feels the need to bare a child and that is her CHOICE... who has the right to tell her otherwise!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I've seen the film three times now, and each time it gets more compelling – not to mention timely. Given the efforts to roll back abortion rights and access, everyone needs to see this film! The story of the Jane Collective is beautifully written by Rachel Carey and brought to life stunningly by Cait Cortelyou and a truly remarkable cast. The producers and directors did a fabulous job of lifting up a part of our hidden history. Not only does Ask for Jane underscore how far we've come – and what's at stake in the debate about abortion rights and access. This film also reminds us of what's possible when we come together for the greater good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Good acting and good story. Worth seeing! Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times Writer-director Rachel Carey's film is effective in its depiction of a pre-Roe vs. Wade America and its horrors for women, despite its often-clumsy script and amateur production values. Jun 26, 2019 Full Review Kristen Lopez Citizen Dame The story demands to be told and seen by the widest audiences possible. May 13, 2019 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Ask for Jane has the look and feel of a Lifetime movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's certainly not an Oscar-caliber film. Jul 11, 2020 Full Review Lael Loewenstein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It felt almost like you're reading a sixth grade sex-ed primer in terms of the way it hit every conceivable cliché. Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Loren King AWFJ.org Ask For Jane depicts an important chapter in history and reminds us why women risked so much to help one another at a very dark and dangerous time. May 28, 2019 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat It's not the content that's objectionable. It's the crudely pedagogical manner in which it's presented.
