Steven S Nice little movie about what could never be as two strangers (parents) accompany their kids to a college tour and meet and squirrel away for their own tour. Unrequited relationships between 2 adults are painful… Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/01/23 Full Review Paul B Starts slowly as a parodic treatment of Boomer and Gen X adults, focused on responsibility and good parenting, taking their children on a college visit. It develops into a mildly interesting an amusing rom-com between parents who didn't bring along their respective spouses. A similar interplay between their offspring offers a subplot. Then, things devolve into a cliched celebration that the 60's and 70's left had it right all along. I'd like to see the film done with 2023 left woke sensibilities. That would be a parody worth watching. I fell in love with Vera Farmiga when she starred in Up in the Air. That poignant semi rom-com depicted real life adult situations and could hardly go wrong with Walter Kirn's material. At Middleton, Vera, along with her little sister and Andy give it the good old college try, but even those formidable performances can't save it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review corkball Ferris Bueller for adults? Two parents are taking their respective kids to a college tour, and of course they are opposites, but they strike up a friendship and play hooky from the tour - hijinx ensue. It isn't rip roaring funny or anything, but it is engaging enough to watch. The leads are ok, but geez Garcia has to be like 20 years older than the female lead. The acting is pretty good, but the script, after a strong start, starts to peter and gasp.
