Mark Cousins looks at life and death in the atomic age. Using only archive film, "Atomic" shows an impressionistic kaleidoscope of our nuclear times: protest marches, Cold War sabre rattling, Chernobyl and Fukishima, but also the sublime beauty of the atomic world, and how X Rays and MRI scans have improved human lives.

Phil Hoad Guardian Isolated parts hit home, like the awesome geometry of fission explosions set to stark Japanese percussion, but not enough bonds with the poetic valency Cousins seeks. Rated: 2/5 Oct 20, 2016 Full Review PJ Nabarro One Room With A View It's an ambitious, distinctive work that captures the sheer strangeness of the Atomic age; a feast for the mind and the senses. Audience Member 4/5. An experimental documentary with almost no narration and no original shooting. Mark Cousins and his team give us another masterpiece, with the edited archive footage working in complete harmony with the music from the Scottish band Mogwai.
