Tara Brady Irish Times Unhappily, Chomet's brand of bittersweet whimsy doesn't translate well into live action. Rated: 2/5 Sep 5, 2014 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian Somewhere in here, there's an affecting treatise on what we take from our fathers, and give back to our children. Rated: 3/5 Sep 4, 2014 Full Review Simon Crook Empire Magazine In a 2014 kook-off, Sylvain Chomet's imaginative confection would take a narrow second place to Michel Gondry's Mood Indigo. Rated: 3/5 Sep 4, 2014 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Chomet captures the way that memories can mislead or turn into a torrent but despite the jokes, he never loses sight of Paul's sadness. Rated: 4/5 May 16, 2015 Full Review Trevor Johnston Radio Times Yes, it takes far too long to get to the punchline, but there's genuine emotion in the story's life-affirming take on the mental shackles we create for ourselves. guillermo l Very original, different from USA film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review kaori y I love sprituality of this movie along with good musical arrangements. A beautiful film interms of style and sentiment. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow.. it is a great, enchanting and refreshinging movie. The music, the colors of the pictures are like lullabies. these actually go well with the visions under "vegetable treatments". Im interested in psychology, too and the story plot itself is also superbly interesting. I ordered it in DVD twice from Amazone both times stolen before getting to me. Gave it up but the film's afterfeeling is still in my guts. Hope the delivery guys appreciated the film too!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Music memories Vs Mutism. Quirky little French movie with some colourful moments. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Stunning - the music alone is worth seeing the show! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A pianist sheltered by twin aunts and unable to remember his parents finds a key in magic mushroom tea at a neighbours. The film is nearly smothered by the determinedly off beat and proud of it approach, but a very cool film lies within it anyway. Fake seagulls fly along a beach, an ice cream emerges shaped as two lovers... you get the picture? The music is lovely, including the frog accordion band.
