What to Know

Critics Consensus

McGee aims for glossy noir and ends up with a pretty, but lifeless, heap of pretentious banality.

Nathan Lee New York Times Autumn is a nearly perfect satire of the pretentious French thriller. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't know it. Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Ruthe Stein San Francisco Chronicle A colossal misfire, a tedious film noir wannabe. Rated: 1/4 Jun 23, 2006 Full Review Noel Murray AV Club It's hard enough to care about why these people are striking fashion-model poses and shooting at each other without having to think about their poor, bruised inner children. Rated: C- Jun 22, 2006 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International What emerges is imperfect but shows a bravura talent with an engagingly elliptical storytelling style. Feb 7, 2007 Full Review Eric Lurio Greenwich Village Gazette I'm not sure this is a parody or not. Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 9, 2006 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide The film looks great, but there's nothing under the high-gloss veneer. Rated: 2/4 Jun 9, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Jean-Pierre plays the hitman character equivalent to your average joe, not exactly a highly trained assassin and not very cunning with average intelligence. Running into an old friend at a restaurant ,Michelle, the two reminisce about their childhood and get romantically involved. Unbeknownst to Jean-Pierre, Michelle has gotten mixed up in some shady business that coincidentally involves his own boss and ultimately puts both of them in danger. This film was not at all what I expected, reading the synopsis I thought there would be more action involved, there are a good deal of action scenes but it didn't help to jump start the movie. The story for the most part is bland and drags on at a slow pace, but with all the plot twists and mystery kept me interested just enough to see how it all turns out. Very similar to the Clive Owen movie "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Jean-Pierre plays the hitman character equivalent to your average joe, not exactly a highly trained assassin and not very cunning with average intelligence. Very similar to the Clive Owen movie "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Cold, slow, strange... Yet fascinating... Love Irene Jacob but... Laurent Lucas !!! :-) What about "J'ai horreur de l'amour" ? Not on the list ??? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This film noir contrasts the innocence of childhood with the disappointments of a life of crime. It shows the seedy side of life in Paris. The cinematography was well done, while the story is a sleeper. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member The same formula is used here as any other hitman movies, where he and/or she does not want to kill anymore. The shoots in here are great, however, it does not keep your attention. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I rented it because I hadn't seen Irene Jacob since her performance in RED. The plot twists are interesting enough but a bit too scattered to hold your attention for very long. The movie is held together in my opinion by Dinara Drukarova who plays Veronique, a shy, lonely but cold and calculating hitman. Although she not a lead character, her performance is exceptional. Nicely shot and decent editing - worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
