Audience Member Outrageous in the worst way possible, completely over-the-top attempt at depicting religious fanaticism that even a Ken Russell would have found annoying to the extreme. Anna Karina was capable of carrying subtility as well as the worst and least inspired. She tries so hard that her presence becomes as pleasant as a crucifixion. Pascale Ogier is seen here in the last role she played right before her short life ended, in a tragically candid role of a nun that doesn't play with a full deck of cards. You thought the poster was offensive? It's the least of its problems. Ave Maria is a poorly realized feature with a potentially rewarding script - the last one too from Paul Gégauff's pen before getting shot by his jealous wife.
