What to Know

Critics Consensus

The increased gore and violence over the first Alien vs. Predator can't excuse Requiem's disorientating editing, excessively murky lighting, and lack of new ideas.

Nick Schager Slant Magazine Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem is literally shrouded in darkness, and the only explicable reason for this pitch-black visual schema is that the filmmakers understood it was better if no one could see the **** they were shooting. Rated: 1/4 Jan 20, 2008 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) At best the movie's an unpretentious pile-up of B-movie clichés, but why "Requiem"? Time to give it a rest now. Jan 18, 2008 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian The world's most illogical and boring action-horror grudge-match between two dull trademarked franchise monsters is back on. Rated: 1/5 Jan 18, 2008 Full Review Casey Chong Casey's Movie Mania [The] second Alien vs. Predator follow-up is a disaster on many levels. Rated: 1/5 Aug 15, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Certainly more watchable than its predecessor Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 6, 2023 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine Future Alien and Predator films never managed to capture the appeal of the originals, but they were at least more watchable than this. AVPR is without question the worst that these franchises ever got. Rated: 1/10 Mar 25, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Dalton S. Not a fan of the alien predator but other than that a fun watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/19/25 Full Review TJ F This movie was THE WORST of both the Alien and Predator franchises. I have seen all the Alien and Predator movies at least three times. While the others varied from awesome to mediocre, this one was HORRIBLE! What was so bad? Poor script. Poor directors. Bad acting. Bad scenes. The entire movie was filmed in darkness with poor lighting, making it difficult to see anything. Poor disjointed plot. Poor acting. The list of BAD goes on and on. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Michael D L Definitely a mess not a good movie at all a complete waste Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/07/25 Full Review Gregory S I just well never understand how they can make movies this poorly. The story, the script, the acting, the horrible lighting, just everything was bad. It might have had some cool action scenes, but you literally are not able to see them. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Darcy J everything sucked except some of the kills. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/25/25 Full Review prawnda s there are solid concepts here and a pretty good cast, but they are lost on a script filled with aimless subplots. there's also the major issue that the predalien was not really any more dangerous or resilient than the next xenomorph, but the predator never used any of it's weapons on it, instead choosing to punch it or push it away repeatedly. aside from it's breeding rate, it's significantly less dangerous than a regular xeno due to the lack of acid blood and the less streamlined physique. at the ending when the lady is talking to her kid, i literally did not know who she was but i guess she was supposed to be a protagonist? there's quite a lot of very bad camera work and lighting. you cant see anything in this movie, and it doesnt come off as a sort of unknown danger so much as a mess. it's still fun, it's still watchable with enough squinting, but this movie does deserve significant criticism unlike it's predecessor.
