Johan T Love the way consciousness is explained and have similar experiences myself. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/22 Full Review dominique f Aware asks some interesting questions and offers quite beautiful images. It is, however, frustratingly uninformative, and superficial. Surely, the "ocean of consciousness" (quote from trailer) is vast, yet Aware misses every opportunity to wet more than its feet. The "six brilliant researchers" (quote from trailer) must have been carefully selected according to their openness to esotericism – and drugs. Ready to pose for the camera as thoughtful and inspirational thinkers, the researchers are merely quoted for swollen aphorisms about life (one promising exception is the initial interview with Monica Gagliano which turns out to be but a tease; for the rest of the interviews do not even try to provide insightful information). Halfway into the movie, the director completely loses his focus; the topic now: drugs. But, of course, not from an educational perspective. Rather, all we get to hear are shallow personal reports about how hallucinogenic substances "open the door" (quote from one of the researchers). Thus, carried by stunning images, Aware leaves its audience frustratingly unsatisfied by asking big questions but providing merely superficial, uninformative answers. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I was simply blown away by this film. So much so that I had to watch it three times. It is really an epic film and deals with our deepest questions about life and our relationship to the world around us. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
