Portland I thought AWOL was well done. The relationship between the two main characters went fast from the beginning, but the effects were good, and the actors and actresses had some good acting. You could feel some emotion, especially when some specific events happened (I'm not going to spoil it for others who didn't watch the movie.). The storyline and plot were well-thought out, the movie, in my opinion, had a good pace, it didn't go too fast or too slow. Overall, this was a good movie, and I would recommend it to people who like LGBTQ+ relationships or drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/23 Full Review Emily H Incredibly emotional, it's a saddening story and it's a relief to see no gratuitous sex and nudity for the male gaze. The acting is good and the score and cinematography are beautiful Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Adventurous, jaw dropping twisted and heartbreaking . Joey girl ahh my heart!!! ;( don't wanna spoil it but all I am saying is you better go watch it right now !!! Just go watch it right now ! Always looking for a good LGBTQ+ Movie find this charm on Hulu ! Honestly get a tissue for that ending ! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Well, I don't know whether we are supposed to like movies that make us feel bitter. This movie depicts a sad reality of life itself and reminds us that hell is empty. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Good small film with strong leads. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliantly filmed, it felt so real, like a peak into their world of Love and chaos Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Cinematographer Gal Deren's lensing of Rust Belt locations finds a place both lovely to linger in and worth leaving, matching the bittersweet sound of the folky songs Kirke sings while the two characters are alone. Jan 8, 2019 Full Review Sarah Fonseca Autostraddle Talking about class can be ugly. Yet as AWOL asserts, when you dare to comment, sometimes it frees up room for beauty to unfurl. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Katie Walsh The Playlist Shoval ... captures the blind recklessness of first love, in a lesbian love story that's only partially about the characters' queerness. Rated: B+ May 18, 2016 Full Review Andrea Thompson A Reel of One's Own [Lola] Kirke gives an amazing performance, but it's [Breeda] Wool who has the harder role, and effortlessly shines. Rated: B+ Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Nathanael Hood Screen Comment Completely bereft of momentum, it staggers and stumbles its torturous way through an eighty five-minute run-time without offering anything creative or original. Rated: 4/10 Dec 28, 2018 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest A muscular debut, modest in the scale of its storytelling, but not in the empathy it inspires and though it may have taken years to complete, "AWOL" was well worth the wait.
