...the pileup of concepts, cultural simplification, and a script that prioritizes reference over development limits [the film's] scope. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is a one-time-only kind of watch, mostly for diehard Batman completists. It’s novel, more than a little overstuffed and occasionally enjoyable. If that sounds like faint praise, that’s because it is. Go to Full Review

... hews too closely to its DC roots and doesn’t embrace the imagination of the culture from which it borrows enough to break free, thereby resulting in a film that fails to raise tension even as it uses the real trauma of the Aztec people as the basis .. Go to Full Review

It's a work of pop culture, yes, but it's also a piece of cultural memory, reminding viewers of their roots and that stories need to be passed on. Go to Full Review

Giuseppe V @JU1C3B0X3R 6d What a beautifully fresh take on Batman's Mythos and Origins. Would love to see where this went if it got a sequel, but it is regardless, a very fun watch. See more Cameron H @camthemovieman Jan 5 Batman is reimagined in a story centered around Aztec mythology. It’s a cool blend of real history with fantastical elements. I didn’t like the animation style, it felt cheap compared to other DC animated films, but I loved the action sequences and the interesting new takes on Batman characters like Two-Face and the Joker. Overall, the concept makes this film worth watching, especially if you’re a Batman or DC comics fan. See more J S @JSF8TE Dec 31 This was hard to watch. The animation isn’t great, but most of all the story feels forced. The characters actions and dialogue all feel extremely cliche and elementary. If it was a kid’s movie, fine, but this is supposed to be for mature audiences. Easy skip See more Xane B @xabobinchuck Dec 28 It was a fun watch. See more Jake L @Gundam267 Dec 25 So tired of these knock off batman movies, WB need to just stick with the more normal material. Bruce wayne, batman, high teck gadgets and over the top villains. The last 4 animated batman movies have been really lacking with the edo period stuff, Lovecraft and this. Make ultimate Batman or green lantern Batman almost any other batman comic is better then these weird period pieces. See more Read all reviews
