Jade V @BLOCKBUSTRG Jul 6 Interesting takes on all of the DC main characters! Would have loved to see takes on the quick studies of batman like as followers appear than just batman himself. Maybe room to appear in the next film if continued since it left a cliff hanger for the Penguin character! Vibrant animations and semi-interesting character dialogue. Bittersweet ending but leaves open-ended promise for more batman legacy. I watched for the culture take and I wanted to see originality. This delivered on diversity and ingenuity. Was super fucked the religious spiritual corruption that transpired for The Joker & kind of rushed and unrealistic for anyone returning home even if desperate...killing your whole fam due to visions is a stretch. Deserved better for the character's dedication to try so hard to appease his rulers. Cat woman chic was dope & Ivy. Hope to see a cool takes on Mr. FREEZE w/ plague ending enticed. Through my Methodist faith lens, seeing Yohualli channel his tragedy into protecting his people reminds me that true justice means shielding the vulnerable. Plum’s score also brilliantly weaves Elfman’s ‘89 theme into traditional Aztec instrumentation to anchor the dark atmosphere. The Cuts: The middle really dragged for me; setting up all the historical villain variants stalls the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, translating the complex history of Spanish colonialism into a standard superhero slugfest leaves the stakes feeling one-dimensional and half-baked. Holy crap, this revisionist history propaganda film is utter s**t. Anyone who likes this, does like the character of Batman at all. All you like is political messaging. "Oh if we make Batman with the Natives, then ALL America will see we should give our land back to the natives." Those same natives who killed for that land previously and conquered and wiped out previous generations and civilizations before them who did the same thing, so on and so forth.
