Simon Brew Den of Geek It's a nice piece of work, this, although I couldn't say Back In Time is 100% essential viewing. But it's a warm companion. Jun 8, 2020 Full Review Brad Cook Flickering Myth Even if you're a die-hard fan of the trilogy who has seen just about every scrap of video about the movies, you'll find plenty to enjoy... Rated: 4/5 Jun 8, 2020 Full Review Christopher Campbell Nonfics Coming out at the same time as Back to the Future Day has only hurt it, making it all the clearer that this scattered fandom doc has nothing special to offer its audience. Rated: 1/5 Oct 23, 2015 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat While hardly revelatory for diehard fans, there's nonetheless a lot of fun information provided here. Audience Member Love Back To The Future like everyone does, but this documentary is a mess. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review rick w Was expecting oodles of fun and sparkling entertainment. But it ran very slow during the center hour of the film rambling on about the Delorean. Missing dept and never even close to 88 miles an hour. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review bill t A cute enough look back at Back To The Future. It did provide interesting insight to the making, the legacy and the fans of the franchise. Not too sure why all the hate. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Overlong and self-indulgent documentary, purportedly a thirtieth anniversary celebration of the Zemeckis-Gale popular trilogy, but mostly given over to far too many middle-aged fans who want to show you their DeLoreans. A bit of a wasted opportunity. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member You know, for a documentary about Back to the Future, it seems to focus more on the fans than what happened behind the scenes. Meaning that anyone coming to watch this movie expecting a lesson on franchise history will be disappointed. I was a bit disappointed, it doesn't even mention the cartoon set after the events of Part III and only mentions the video game from Telltale Games once or twice. However, I was still left "Oooooh! Aaaaah!" with what the documentary had to offer. We also get to see some unique footage of the original version of Back to the Future with a different actor instead of Michael J. Fox. I'm impressed with how the BttF fans were influenced by the franchise. A guy and his friend decided to build their very own DeLorean after learning that the failure that became a success was not fictitious and an Irish man and his son having a decent amount of Bttf stuff. Impressive. And there's still some educational value. Who knew that the infamous "nuke the fridge" scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was inspired by an original draft of the 1985 classic? So, Robert Zemeckis and that guy called Bob Gale who wrote the script were to blame all along. So, yeah, Back in Time is not great and is more about the fans than the actual movie but still remains interesting enough throughout to compensate for any flaws. We need more documentaries focusing on the cultural impact of franchises. Just try not to make titles that are inherently misleading.
