David Fear Time Out Rated: 1/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Tom Keogh Seattle Times Once in a while, a movie inspires nothing more than complete apathy. Backseat is such a lackluster work. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 18, 2008 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Alexander's script considers context anathema, leaving us to wonder, among other puzzlers, why these two jerks are friends to begin with - and, perhaps, on what bad breakup or neglected childhood one may blame the film's dispiriting misanthropy. Rated: 2/4 Apr 11, 2008 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seattle Post-Intelligencer Backseat satisfies itself with small observations and minor breakthroughs of self-awareness. Rated: C+ Apr 17, 2008 Full Review Chad Greene Boxoffice Magazine To be sure, slapstick misadventures ensue, but there's a sweetness and vulnerability beneath the surface of the boys' sometimes-blue bantering. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2008 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Just a series of character skits, some charming and others tedious. Rated: 2/4 Mar 28, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Culturally falling somewhere between Sideways and Dumb and Dumber, this low-rent road movie similarly rides on principles of audience identification, largely minus competent helming, thesping or scripting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member worth watching, won awards in at austin tx film festivals. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! It was very funny and entertaining! The two stars of the film, Josh Alexander and Robert Bogue, have wonderful timing with each other! I drove over three hours to see this movie and would do it again in a heartbeat! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member i did like this film, but just that. the script had some funny yet true moments about life. sweet, indie style, unique characters...not a whole lotta character chemistry. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I wanted to like it, I really did. With characters that straddle the line between funny & annoying, well, Frankie is just awesome...and only a few redeeming things to take away. I found it just simply alright. Gun scene at the end was awesome. & Ben's girlfriend is beautiful. That's all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member this isn't a bad movie, it's just not a good one. i laughed twice. the problem i had with it is that the core of the film isn't interesting in the least. the two leads have no chemistry with each other. the unfortunate part is that the subplot involving ben and his lady friend is so well written and so well acted and i can't help but think how good the movie would have been had it been about them. it's worth watching for one of aubrey dollar's brilliant monologues.
