Justin Chang Variety A blandly executed action-thriller whose cast names (Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe) and mild '80s Louisiana flavor offer only modest compensations for the story's workmanlike construction and routine twists. Apr 11, 2014 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times [A] thoroughly routine, straight-to-video-reminiscent action thriller set in Louisiana. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Paul Chambers Movie Chambers Action fans need more than bullets and bodies. "Bad Country" is a disappointment. Rated: C May 8, 2014 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered True to its name, Bad Country falls short on almost every count, but it's not just bad - it's also lazy, lifeless and guilty of squandering many fine actors. Jeffrey P A triple threat that lacks originality, cohesion, and detail. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review ed a As many have stated pretty trite storytelling even though its supposedly based on true story. The only part worth the time invested is to finally see Dafoe get his revenge on Berenger from his double cross in Platoon. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Georgan G Acting was good but the plot wasn't totally coherent. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/14/24 Full Review Walter B So far the movie keeps my attention. The acting is quite well performed. The only thing I find frustrating is not the movie itself, but that it is apparently based on true events. Yet every single question about the true story behind it on Google ONLY references the movie's claim that it is based on true events. ("Google! What is the true story behind Bad Country?" Google's answer: "Yup! Bad Country is based on actual events." - the only thing missing in Google's response is ending their search with "H'Yuk!" Makes me wonder if Google's slogan should be: "Dumber than sh*t search engine.") Like I said, movie's ok so far, just don't expect to find anything about the so-called true events. At least not from Google. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Stoner J Don’t be sucked in by the big names in the cast, it’s a total generic and really crapily done would be crime thriller Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Michael R Starting out promising with an edgy feel and a sense of foreboding. Bizarrely, about half way through it seemed to turn into a cheap Tele-movie and it completely lost its appeal Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/22 Full Review Read all reviews
