Michael R Starting out promising with an edgy feel and a sense of foreboding. Bizarrely, about half way through it seemed to turn into a cheap Tele-movie and it completely lost its appeal Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/22 Full Review Audience Member Great lineup of actors and a good but predictable story line. The low ratings is from how poorly produced the movie was from the direction, music and everything else involved in making a movie . Very lucky they had good actors. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/22 Full Review Audience Member Just do yourself a favour and don't watch this movie ,such a waste of time 😑I just watched it for the sake of Willem Dafoe❤️ Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Willem Dafoe e Matt Dillon salvano quel che possono in un film con una trama tanto poco originale quanto troppo esagerata e confusa per essere minimamente credibile. Alcuni personaggi che avevo potenziale sono totalmente trascurati ed offuscati da sparatorie al limite della comprensione. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review kevin c A cop played by Willem Dafoe thinks the guys he busted are part of a much bigger picture and turns his arrest into an opportunity for a chance at a Louisiana crime syndicate.
Pretty typical crime thriller, but up a notch due to performances from Dafoe and Matt Dillon.
Amy Smart is criminally underused in this film.
Pretty decent watch especially for fans of this genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie should be called Bad Movie. Horrible script writing. Sloppy editing. Awkward pacing. The movie is about a convict (played by a porn mutton-chopped Matt Dillon) who agrees to help take down his old boss (Tom Berringer) and his criminal syndicate in exchange for his wife (played by Amy Smart who must have been desperate for a $2000 pay day) and baby’s protection. On its surface it sounds like a solid premise, but you will find yourself groaning at the tired script of cliches, the overreacting of the normally brilliant Willem DaFoe, and the hokey and comical Cajun impression brutally performed by Berringer. You’ll even see henchmen in what appears to be bad wigs and fake mustaches during a gunfight in the middle of the movie. This one is a stinker. Avoid. Justin Chang Variety A blandly executed action-thriller whose cast names (Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe) and mild '80s Louisiana flavor offer only modest compensations for the story's workmanlike construction and routine twists. Apr 11, 2014 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times [A] thoroughly routine, straight-to-video-reminiscent action thriller set in Louisiana. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Paul Chambers Movie Chambers Action fans need more than bullets and bodies. "Bad Country" is a disappointment. Rated: C May 8, 2014 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered True to its name, Bad Country falls short on almost every count, but it's not just bad - it's also lazy, lifeless and guilty of squandering many fine actors.
