nick s The production quality is good. Anything with Lizbeth Scott is good. But the story concept was weak. I couldn't understand why they made a big fuss over which doctor performed a surgery. There was a tonne of tedious exposition as the characters explained every thought and motivation they experienced. It actually made the movie quite boring. The ending was predictable and could be guessed at the half way mark. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review deke p Slow. Mostly boring. Mostly takes place in doctors offices, or homes. Finally takes an unexpected turn into more interesting action at the end. finally saw the whole thing through on late nite Movie Chanel 6-2020. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member mis labeled as noir but there is nothing noir about it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member "Oh I'm interviewing nurses, of course. Don't be silly, darling, of course she'll be fat and ugly. I do insist on good legs though." Charlton Heston plays a idealistic (though clearly sexist) doctor from a small mining community, who get's lured by Lizabeth Scott into a cushy high society doctor job prescribing lonely ladies pills. You can guess where the story goes from there. It's a pretty weak melodrama only elevated by Heston and Scott. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review bill t Somewhat odd morality tale about how cursed you will be if you decide to make money by being RICH doctor instead of a small town one. Why, you'll mean rich people with rich people illnesses! You should be in the small towns taking care of the small town people who WORK! Charleton Heston, fresh off the army, seems to fall for the first rich girl he sees and dumps the Coalville small down doctors practice job for the chance to work in the big city! But soon, sleazy big people come out and heavens forbids he doesnt care for the small people anymore! Just a wee bit odd, and unbelievable, but watchable anyways. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A small town boy made good (Charlton Heston) returns to his small coal mining hometown after the death of his brother. Everyone wants him to stay, but everyone has their own agenda. Money and power vie with dignity and honor. Heston sells his soul for money and position. But an old army buddy and a nurse who wants to be a doctor may just be able to pull him back from the abyss of upper crust debauchery. HestFactor 8.
