Sadly, Bad Genius fails to fulfil its early promise, especially when it comes to subverting the English-language stereotype of Asian students as brainy but straitlaced. Go to Full Review

Fans of the 2017 version of “Bad Genius” may not need a makeover, but it’s still both novel and compelling enough to be worthwhile. Go to Full Review

"Bad Genius” doesn’t actually have the political bite to back its bark. For all of its declarations meant to be scathing indictments of a rigged system, it is glaringly resistant to ever saying the word “white.” Go to Full Review

Pulses with the energy and thrills of a heist film, but it is the deeper theme of privileged America exploiting the intelligence and ambitions of the nation’s minorities that resonates. Go to Full Review

Low-key and straightforward, without overt humor or padding, this high-school heist movie succeeds mainly due to its focus on systemic racism in the United States. Go to Full Review

Sky K Nov 26 I like the concept and idea, characters, and scenes, the way it's shot. but i had issues with the plotholes in the movie. Here are some of them - The SAT proctor chasing the 2 when they ran out of the test center... unrealistic given that they are not the police and it's not "illegal" to cheat. so he has no right to detain them. - Grace and her bf deffering for a year doesnt mean the apt in Manhattan can't be negotiated with her parents. At worst her parents would have to help Lynn rent an aprtment in NYC for 1 year before grace & bf joins her. Seems like an overexaggerated response to grace deffering. The students in philly who had to take the test again... "can't afford" to take it again, but if collegeboard really nullified their test, they would have to give them a free retake. The ending is very satisfying THOUGH - loved it , but i wish we could see a post credit scene showing lynn getting into julliard , etc See more Kyle M May 13 Remake equals rejuvenated discussion in applicable terms. Differing integrities may watch this in a disapproving gaze but cannot help but commend over its intelligence in structuring a tangible heist film over such plot with couple unprecedented turns that socially aligns towards the unseen original while also sharply executed to plausibly question. The tricks to get answers for the SAT were fun. See more Hoang T Feb 26 I love everyone's acting in here Thank you for rewriting the ending, I really love it. It showed how smart Lynn actually is and at the same time manage to give Bank the ending he deserves. See more Garry A @heavyg Feb 24 It's smart, clever, and fun! See more Read all reviews
