Audience Member A bunch of foul-mouthed orphan kids trying to break out for their own freedom, and to save their friend who's been adopted by a scummy American rich family. At its core, this film could've been a really funny crude film, instead, its just downright crude and mean spirited. Any attempts at comedy really don't work that well. There's nothing pleasant in this movie, just a bunch of wild antics, some which are funny and are comical exaggerations of reality, such as kids being overly foulmouthed and educated in adult content, and the idea of American rich people being careless idiots ruled by greed and lack of humanity. I enjoyed the film for what did work, which was a story and concept that's fun, it just gets buried often by the things that don't work as a result of some weak writing and poor direction, resulting in an unbalanced film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Wish it was on Blu-ray Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member I remember to see this one at Cinemax at the late 80s. I like it, maybe just because I was a teenager at that time and I liked the rebellious attitude of the kids on the orphanage Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Foul-mouthed kids in movies are usually a sign of desperation, but here it's the raison d'etre. Good lowbrow satire with an idiosyncratic feel and a definite mean streak, and best of all the music is by SPARKS! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Hahahahahhaha!! Sorry, I remembered watching this on TV so many times as a kid, and then I finally bought a VHS copy of it earlier this year. Not great, kind of John Waters-esque, but a fun movie. And if you remember Recess, the little girl in the gang of orphans went on to voice Spinelli. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A really, really lame movie. I'm one of those many who wondered why Martin Mull was considered to be a comic. He did those annoying Red Roof Inn commercials and he's a Browns fan. Maybe that's what makes him so funny.
