Alexander B This is the best thriller I've seen in a decade and it is a terrific displaying of the dangers of modern technology especially in dating. It gradually builds suspense and when you think it can't get scarier it still manages to. The final scene left me speechless and my jaw dropped. If you want a great thriller that is very relevant to are time you'll love this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Emilliano Jr S Low budget but decent, watchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/22/23 Full Review John S Movie we forgot about until recently. When revisiting this film, it was enjoyable during this current modern time. I know I deleted my Tinder app after watching this film. It is at a 100% because only 8 critics liked it positively. There is no way in hell that this movie should be triple digits. Still enjoyable and classic but come back down to earth. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review daniel n A fun and entertaining thriller that very effectively shows the tricky sides of modern dating. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting ending and kinda sad Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was great. Decent enough acting, good plot, and just enough twists to make it worth the entire watch. Although I wouldn't call this a serious or intentional referendum on aspects of our modern culture, there are aspects of this screenplay that serve as a reminder to us all of the social deconstruction we are participating in: dating apps, video games, social media. There is something profoundly un-human about all of those things. We start looking at each other as a source of personal entertainment and gratification instead of as an autonomous emotional beings. It's much easier to hurt someone when you don't value their existence as equal. ‘swipe right to hit that' based on a visual attraction is much different than physical pheromone release and the ‘cat and mouse' struggle of meeting someone in person. This dating app culture actually sexual exploits the uses and they volunteer for this "meatifcation". Online bullying is the same disconnect from the actual feelings of and for others. My point being, this movie paints a grim picture of an already growing problem that will be WAY more severe. But even if you don't want to think about much, this is a great movie to watch with a new(er) date and reminisce about your most terrifying personal experiences paying for a strangers drinks for the intended purpose of getting laid, instead of the honorable quest of finding a partner, y'all have those stories, I know. Owen Gleiberman Variety In its fevered low-budget way it's just clever enough to do what it sets out to do. It gives toxic masculinity its just desserts. Nov 4, 2017 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Bad Match" effectively explores the everyday horror that comes from people treating their fellow human beings as interchangeable playthings. Nov 2, 2017 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter ... Match clearly only aspires to be a thriller with a surprise or two up its sleeve. On that front, it's adequate. Nov 1, 2017 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Fresh, clever, and ever so slightly twisted, Bad Match offers a modern take on the one-night-stand-gone-bad story, one that is sure to get everyone talking. Rated: 4/5 Aug 29, 2018 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Too short and formulaic to give us anything much to chew on, "twists" be damned. Rated: 2/4 Aug 14, 2018 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files I thought the premise had potential, but Bad Match exceeded my expectations. This was a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out for thriller fans. Oct 10, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
