S. Nicole Lane Chicago Reader The film deftly documents a journey of heartbreak and pain... Mar 22, 2024 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com A notable amplification of a noble message. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 20, 2024 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media The documentary is smart to contextualize their fight with Enbridge in the larger historical context of governments, companies, and people who have invariably taken advantage of Native and Indigenous communities throughout history. Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Bad River sounds an important alarm about the battle for civil rights and environmental protection in a crusade led by the Bad River Band. This must-see documentary shows in unflinching ways how these issues affect everyone on a global level. Mar 23, 2024 Full Review Chris Salce Film Threat Bad River made me angry in the intended way. The injustice that the Indigenous have faced for many years is only one story in a huge history that needs to be told. This is a movie that should be included in every American history curriculum. Rated: 10/10 Mar 15, 2024 Full Review Liz Braun AWFJ.org Bad River is a small but mighty and profoundly moving documentary about the formidable Lake Superior Ojibwe people whose legal battle against Enbridge Oil may be the only thing standing between the next pipeline failure and the waters of the Great Lakes. Michele L Online it sounded like the documentary focused on the Bad River Bands efforts to control their own destiny, property and sovereignty against Canadian oil giant Enbridge -- and that WAS the purpose of the documentary. However, in order to understand the Bad River Bands struggles with Enbridge, you really had to learn the history of the tribe going back to the 1800s and the terrible hardships this band of Chippewa/Ojibwe native Americans have experienced at the hands of the U.S. government and corporate interests, and how theyve had to fight over and over to retain their culture, heritage, and treaty rights. Very interesting documentary covering much of the tribe's history / highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Anonymous I thought the documentary was done VERY VERY well. It was very educational about the plight of the Bad River tribe. It was very engaging and thought provoking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Tina This movie was amazingly done! I wish everyone would go see it to learn the truth about what the government has done and continues to do to Native Americans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review CHRIS Very informative account of what is going on in the Bad Water Indian Reservation. It is about how they are bring bullied by a big oil corporation and the corporation refuses to honor any previous agreements that they have made with the tribe. The repercussions of which could end up in an environmental disaster reaching as far as Lake Superior. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review jeff Speaking truth to power. Sad to see, 2024 still horrible treatment of Native people. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Hike & Heal W Every United States citizen should be required to watch this as part of US history. A great film, a tragic history and a threatened ecosystem in need of attention. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
