Shardul (Rajkummar Rao) is the only male child born after a long line of female offspring in his family. To add to this tragedy, he is surrounded by women at work, too -- being the only male cop. However, when Suman Singh (Bhumi Pednekar), a school PT teacher, comes to him to file a harassment complaint, Shardul's life takes a different turn altogether. This boy-meet-girl situation turns into an opportunity for both to ease out the shared societal and family pressure of marriage and they both decide to enter a marriage of convenience. Wedding bells ring for them, but there's more than just what meets the eyes: a lie, both are hiding from their respective families. Set in between two crazy clans, Badhaai Do is a dramedy that ensues when two unlikely people tie the knot and start getting thrown into one hilarious situation after another. Amidst finding themselves in this comedy of errors, they emerge forming the strongest of bonds in their unusual relationship.

The film reckons with how herculean it is to be visibly queer, even if your notions of love are traditional. It also brings to the fore the aspect of how communities for queer folks have to be cultivated outside of their familial network.

I loved each and every aspect of this movie, all of the actors were not just eye candies, they did such a brilliant job (kudos to the whole cast). This movie brings the emotions of pleasure, love and the fear of not getting accepted by our loved ones. it shows the hardship we face as a other gender and as the "not the natural ones". It also brings the truth to the screen that ones coming out of the closet is a choice and it should be done under safe circumstance, we should not glorify that because it's not true.

ผมเป็นคนไทย ประเทศที่ยอมรับในด้านความหลากหลายทางเพศมากกว่าหลายประเทศบนโลกนี้ และกฏหมายสมรสเท่าเทียมของบุคคลเพศเดียวกันก็จะถูกใช้งานในต้นปีหน้า แต่เชื่อไหมว่า ภาพยนตร์ที่มีเนื้อหาหลักว่าด้วยเรื่องของ LGBTQI+ นั้นกลับมีน้อยมาก และถ้าจะเฟ้นหาหนัง LGBTQI+ ที่เรียกได้ว่า "หนังดีที่เปี่ยมไปด้วยเนื้อหา บทสนทนา การแสดง เพลงประกอบตลอดจนองค์ประกอบต่างๆที่ดี" นั้นแทบจะน้อยมากจนนับเรื่องได้ Badhaai Do เป็นหนังอินเดียที่ "ดันบาร์" เรื่องของ LGBTQI+ ภายในประเทศให้สูงขึ้นและยัง "ดันบาร์" หนังอินเดียที่ดีในสายตาของชาวต่างชาติให้สูงขึ้นไปอีก เป็นการท้าทายของนักทำหนังอินเดียที่ทำให้เรารู้สึกประหลาดใจไปกับมันอีกครั้ง หลังจากที่เราได้เห็นการท้าทายต่อขนบธรรมเนียม จารีต กรอบ กำแพงที่มองไม่เห็นที่โอบล้อมชาวอินเดียมาโดยตลอด ขอบคุณทุกคนที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการทำหนังเรื่องนี้ เราว่าพวกคุณยอดเยี่ยมมาก

Refreshingly progressive, but luckily that's not the only thing going for it - Badhaai Do is sweet and entertaining too. It also solidifies the reputations of Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar as thinking actors who make good choices.
