Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto The film is critical of oppressive customs and even a bit tragic, but it's also joyful, investing its hopes in characters representing a new generation that is too fun and sassy to be ignored. Rated: 4/5 Sep 9, 2016 Full Review Jordan Hoffman Guardian There's a great deal of visual sizzle, as well as sadness. Rated: 3/5 Sep 9, 2016 Full Review Alissa Simon Variety A smart, charming, and bittersweet tale about the Kingdom's millennial generation and their take on the social and political restrictions that stand in the way of meeting and mingling with the opposite sex. Sep 9, 2016 Full Review Joni Blyth One Room With A View A must-see for all fans of the genre. Rated: 4/5 Mar 13, 2019 Full Review Ethan Vestby Cinema Scope It speaks to Sabbagh's talent that he can finally administer such a light touch to a movie whose romantic leads so self-consciously bear the burdens of generational and national identity. Oct 16, 2017 Full Review Kent Turner Film-Forward.com ... one of the more pointedly political Middle Eastern films that have played the festival circuit recently, and that's saying something. Audience Member Perhaps the only Saudi movie I have watched. A nostalgic and pointed criticism of the direction civil society has taken in Saudi, interspersed with an endearing romantic comedy about two ordinary individuals. Both my wife and I loved this movie. A window into life in that country one would not usually get the chance to see. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
