Claudio C Bare Witness (2002) Underrated Police Story (11,788 – 26 Jun 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) When the call-girl Julie Spencer (Catalina Larranaga) videotapes her encounter with the hit man Gav Reed (Mark Sivertsen), she is forced to leave the hotel room when Gav meets the businessman Ian Hunter (Evan MacKenzie) but their conversation is recorded. She returns to her apartment, where she shares with the former dancer and presently a bartender Carly Marsh (Angie Everhart). Meanwhile, Gav goes to the committee where the favorite candidate mayor, Mary Washington (Angela Sargeant), is celebrating with her political group her possible victory in the elections. However, councilor Frank Constantine (Don Short) is shot to the shoulder instead. When Ian Hunter learns that he was videotaped earlier, he orders his girlfriend Marina (Lauren Reina) to shoot Gav. Carly drives her roommate to the studio, where her “manager” Max 'Slim' Reuter (Joe Costanza) is shooting an adult movie. Ian hires Julie for the night expecting to retrieve her video tape. When he learns that it is not with her, his driver kills Julie. LAPD Detective Killian (Daniel Baldwin) is assigned to investigate Julie’s murder and meets Carly. Soon two killers go to her house and rob Julie’s bag of videotapes. However, the one of Julie and Gav is not there. Killian protects Carly, who helps him in the investigation of the murder of her best friend and soon they unravel a political plan from Ian to profit from the building of a resort complex. “Bare Witness” (2002) is an underrated police story directed by Kelley Cauthen with Daniel Baldwin and Angie Everhart in the lead role. For the theme, murder in the adult industry and prostitution in Los Angeles, the hot Angie Everhart is a great choice for the role of Carly Marsh, since she is uninhibited in front of the cameras. Maybe some viewers consider the nudes and sex scenes excessive, but this is the sordid environment of the story. The political and economic purpose of Ian Hunter is the real plot of the story. The Brazilian title is ridiculous, like in many other films. My vote is seven.
