Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader It makes you ponder, from the standpoint of cultural anthropology, the differences between then and now, with conglomerates today hell-bent on enriching shareholders by decimating workforces. Jan 10, 2019 Full Review Matt Fagerholm RogerEbert.com With its balance of exuberant humor and rigorous insight, Bathtubs Over Broadway provides as stellar an education for the uninformed as Siegel's 'The Bathrooms Are Coming!' Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 4, 2019 Full Review Chris Jones Chicago Tribune Another reminder that top-drawer musical-theater talent has long been more abundant in America than prestigious paying gigs, and that great actors can make you cry when they're singing about car-key blanks. Jan 3, 2019 Full Review Alex Bentley CultureMap Bathtubs Over Broadway is a must-see experience that proves that being open to a human connection can lead to some amazing discoveries. Mar 29, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Truly one of the most delightful and one of the most entertaining feature docs to come my way in a very long time. Rated: 4.0/4.0 Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Diane Pershing Malibu Times If you love Broadway musicals or offbeat documentaries or admire the comedy mind of one of David Letterman's chief writers and are interested in his obsessions, check out this one. Audience Member It was great fun to see these video recordings of something I never knew existed and was not supposed to see. Thank you Steve Young for bringing this to all of us! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member As a veteran of many years of creating these shows, this film brought back many happy memories. I was especially delighted to see a snippet of my work included! Most of all, I was touched to see my old buddy and co-worker Sid Siegel receive a small portion of the honors he so richly deserves. I can only say God Bless You, Steve Young, for warming the heart and bringing tears to the eyes of an old man with little to show for his work but many great memories...until now! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This was such an unexpected gem! I have lost track of how many times I have sat down to enjoy this extraordinary hidden world! Thank you Steve Young for sharing your discoveries! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An offbeat paean to the peculiar excesses and exultations of campy midcentury American entrepreneurship, though Side B does start to lose steam as the focus shifts from industrial musicals to their collection by Steve Young, who the documentary tries to position as something of a Steve Wiebe—though without a heel like Billy Mitchell, Wiebe (like Young) would be just another dweeb. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic! My new favourite movie!! A delight from curious beginning to soaring finale, and the perfect antidote to anger, gloom and tedium. Anyone – in fact everyone! – in social isolation should to see this!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a delight! I especially loved how Steve found these performers and helped them value their past work even more. It's also about the joy of eccentric adventures Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
