Steve D Not scary but still fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review robert p What?? Vampire Bats from a modified genetic experiment, makes this movie so bad its incredibly funny. That's all I have to say, which is why I give this film a *1/2* star rating. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Wanting to watch Bats is just for the sole purpose of watching a horror B movie to add to your mental collection. It's very bland and a lot of it doesn't make any sense. If you'd like to hear Lou Diamond with a very "heavy" and "authentic" Texas accent while fighting off animatronic bats, then this is it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review hasan bulut c one of the biggest problems of the film that it can't decide whether it is a horror comedy or a straight thriller. the film is not entirely unwatchable but this problem causes a big tonal issue. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Well another movie where even the maddest of scientist would not be able to make the experiment work. Supposedly the scientist genetically altered a flying fox and it somehow got loose in Tx and started mating with the local bat population. Now most likely the local bats would be mexican free tailed bats which are I'm guessing about 7 or 8 times smaller than the flying fox. That would be like a Great dane mating with a miniature Chihuahua. Being mammals that would be a real tough on the poor female free tailed bats not to mention the poor thing trying to tuck the baby on board to suckle it. But it's not all bad the movie does have some decent actors like Lou Diamond Phillips so it's good to pass some time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is exactly the B-horror movie it looks like. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Lisa Alspector Chicago Reader This bad-scientist movie about bats that attack humans and the humans who track them -- Texas sheriff Lou Diamond Phillips and zoologist Dina Meyer -- is played straight, though it wasn't intended to be taken that way. Feb 24, 2009 Full Review Christy Lemire Associated Press A movie that's too unintentionally funny to be scary. Feb 24, 2009 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety A vigorously paced and surprisingly satisfying piece of work. Jun 17, 2008 Full Review Chuck Klosterman Akron Beacon Journal The mechanical bats... are among the worst movie props in recent history. Sometimes they look like cats with wings; sometimes they resemble gargoyles; sometimes they look like little gray Yodas with oversize incisor teeth. Rated: 1/4 Oct 30, 2023 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Grade-A hunk of Ed Wood-level cheese. Rated: 0/4 Nov 29, 2009 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Once the little beasts start crawling into cars through the exhaust pipes with malevolent intent and dive-bombing people in convenience stores, it's hard not to think of Gremlins.
