Russ G I'd give this less than a full star but that's the minimum! Doubtless a Poverty Row product suitable for drive-in or Saturday kiddie matinee fare. Ya gotta wonder why MGM would sully its good name releasing stuff like this under its label. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/08/22 Full Review Dave S Had the makers of Battle Beneath the Earth approached things from a comically satirical perspective, something along the lines of Dr Strangelove, the movie could have had a fighting chance. As it stands, it clearly fails as some sort of Cold War thriller. The premise? An army of independent Chinese soldiers bore an 8,000 kilometer tunnel under the Pacific from China to America's west coast in order to transport atomic bombs with the intent of destroying the U.S. As silly as the plot may be, it's not as silly as the actors hired to play the Chinese, most of whom are white folk who walk around with dyed hair and squinted eyes, speaking in some odd accent. Despite its intent to be an intense drama, it's an unintentionally funny dud, memorable only for its absurd storyline, ludicrous plot points, wooden acting, and brutal dialogue. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Audience Member Pretty terrible and low-rent sci-fi film that feels like something from the 1950s not late 1960s. Racist. dumb, and not terribly exciting - plus el cheapo production values mean you should probably skip this one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Entertaining movie about an absurd conspiracy for US invasion by means of a tunnel system under the Pacific Ocean--A fun piece of 60's sci-fi action camp!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly, badly made movie. Never was plausible, but you hope that the action and suspense will make you suspend your disbelief. They don't. Action scenes are poorly done, plot is so weak that you stop caring quite quickly, so no suspense. Wooden performances, they that was somehow predictable. Spot any actors in the cast you've ever heard of? If you were hoping for some Jules Verne-like adventure, you've come to the wrong movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Not quite P.C. in this day and age. I saw it as a kid in a local drive-in. Kind of liked it (of course...seeing 'army guys' running around shooting 'bad guys' was the rage. The music, a jazz style, may not fit with the flick at all, but it wasn't too shabby. As for the plot...well, this would have to be placed in the 'weird science fiction' category: An unknown group (of Oriental descent) are secretly using a laser drill to construct tunnels under the ocean to eventually smuggle atomic weapons under the United States. I wouldn't recommend it, except for people who are really into watching cheesy bad movies. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
