      Critics Consensus

Ugly, campy, and poorly acted, Battlefield Earth is a stunningly misguided, aggressively bad sci-fi folly.

david This movie is utter garbage and nonsense, I’d rather watch a dental hygiene film than this utter garbage Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Daniel S Most excellent sifi film , to bad part 2 was never made Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Phil B This Actually is my #1 worst movie I could rate it a (-12/10 if possible) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Brittany G I've watched it twice. I still can't remember the plot. What just happened. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review dell e One of my all time favorite movies. The book is even better. Its fun, fast paced and shows an epic fight for freedom through using knowledge and "leverage". The protagonist and antagonist are both epic and relatable as see Terl just want to get back to home planet after being punished for one small mistake and his motivations to use Johny the man-animal for his own personal profit and gain. Meanwhile Johny see's his chance to make a better future for his people and for his future family. In many ways the vibe is like old action flicks or shows like Hercules where there is clear battle between good and evil, freedom and tyranny and where bravery is sacrifice are necessary. The beginning is a bit rushed but plays off of western myths and sets up action to take off and keep going. The ending is a perfect fit for the movie as well as for the events that take place after wards in the book. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review will g This movie is awful but going into to it expecting it to be bad makes it more fun and enjoyable my best friend and I quote this movie a lot Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Alexander Walker London Evening Standard Appalling. Jun 3, 2015 Full Review Jeff Strickler Minneapolis Star Tribune Logic is in short supply. Burned-out cities have electricity, for example. My favorite: A hangar full of jets, buried under 1,000 years of dust, not only fire up instantly but still have full tanks of gas. Apr 30, 2014 Full Review Jay Boyar Orlando Sentinel Not awful, but pretty bad. A third-string Planet of the Apes meets Star Trek, Battlefield Earth is a largely uninspiring sci-fi adventure with a Swiss-cheese plot. Apr 30, 2014 Full Review Tony Black Cultural Conversation It remains, genuinely, the worst film produced this century, as of 2020, and it is hard to imagine anything taking its crown any time soon. Rated: 1/5 Feb 15, 2021 Full Review Brian Gill Mad About Movies Podcast Lives up to the hype. This is the worst movie ever made. Rated: F Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal Nothing so entertaining, albeit in none of the right ways, should scrape WOAT status. It's not even one of the 10 worst films from 2000, a distressingly dunderheaded year for movies in general after one of the best ever. Rated: 1/5 Jun 24, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
