Max doesn’t dream of making green walls for five-star hotels. Tenacious landscaper, committed but cornered, he fights to create a wild garden, without fence, in the heart of downtown Marseille: a plant area open to all. After years of rejection, his project reached the final stage of an architecture competition. For Max, this is the last chance to offer oxygen to the people who are suffocating in an urban hell, under the beating sun.

Jonathan Holland Screen International Beating Sun is that rare beast, a compelling drama about town planning. Sep 5, 2022 Full Review Carson Timar Clapper While Beating Sun has an authentic heart, the final package is lacking. Without a strong enough follow-through or character to invest the audience and get them to buy into the film's drama, the feature ends up feeling twice as long as it actually is. Catherine S Very weak movie about an obstinate urban planner who wants to plant a garden in a working class neighborhood of Marseilles. He gets another garden project instead. And it is not even visible. Donc pas de jardin extraordinaire. No one speaks with a Marseilles accent. The whole film is imbued with a leftward goody goody posture. Oy Weh.
