Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review I would be lying if I didn't say that I found it moving. Jan 29, 2019 Full Review Ryan Gilbey New Statesman Beautiful Boy has a remorseless emotional integrity... It is frustrating, repetitive and inconclusive, and all the more admirable for it. Jan 26, 2019 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard I loved watching it. It's fantastically enjoyable. Rated: 3/5 Jan 20, 2019 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) Sadly it’s a case where a lot of its components work in isolation, but not as a whole. Rated: 2/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Ryan McQuade InSession Film Maybe it was the talent behind the camera that brought it down, but we will never know if someone with a little more of a focused eye and pen could have done with the Sheff's story. Rated: D- Apr 3, 2024 Full Review Karen Gordon Original Cin Chalamet conveys all of the necessary contradictory emotions to portray an addict, paradoxically both in love with, and repulsed by, his own tendencies and actions. It's bravura work. Rated: B+ May 2, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Rowan C This movie told the story that David Sheff was writing in real life so well and it was just a great movie. This is based off on a true story and what makes this movie so muc better, is that this stuff happens all the time. David Sheff who is played by Steve Carell is doing his absolute best to take care of his son Nic Sheff who is played by Timothee Chalamet. Nic is addicted to drugs and the sad part about this movie, is that he keeps failing the rehab process. David had to learn to let his child go at one point in the movie because he did everything that he possibly could to help his son become clean. The movie itself was sad because this family is under a lot of stress always worrying about Nic and where he is when he just dissapears. The story of this film is absolutely beautiful and everyone should watch this film if they get the chanc. Overall, such a great story and the cast was such a great fit for this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Kayla B I found it to be a wonderful depiction of the struggles overall in dealing with addiction from both viewpoints. It shed an actual light on those who are struggling and how it is to be on the receiving end of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review crazy f This film changed my life, and the books!. the way it portrays different perspectives, it really shows of the actors and actresses talents. The two stars of the film, Timothee Chalamet and Steve Carell. I knew what the film was basically about but I was unsure because I only saw Steve play in 'The Office' and he was great at playing a stupid, funny character however I was worried he wasn't going to do justice for the more angsty character. And boy, was I proven wrong. His acting was amazing in this film and did show what it really is like being on the other side of addiction. Now, Timothee Chalamet's role, Nick. Nick is a challenging character to play. To represent how impactful addiction really is, its increasingly challenging due to how it's telling thousands of peoples experiences and not wanting to fail to do the role justice. This was the first role i saw of Timothee and the talent that man has is indescribable, he should be really proud in this project. Overall, the film shows how important support is for a recovering addict and more. shows every side of the story, truly beautiful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review Lou M A very real, honest and touching portrayal of the struggles for the individual and those around them. Worth the watch, and worth remembering the challenges all face in this terrible epidemic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review Audience Member As someone with addiction and who has been sober for 25 years, this movie is an indication of how even the most loving parents cannot help someone who has a big, empty hole in the soul which tragically seems only to be able to be filled( in. the addict's mind) with deadly substances. The despair, the lost hope, the mistrust and disconnect from someone you brought into this world and now watch destroy themselves is very beautifully depicted in this film. Not to mention the feeling of complete disconnection to the world and their feelings inside the addict. I'm praying for Nick on journey in sobriety. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Briana G As someone with small children, this movie was touching. As someone who had addict parents, this movie was moving. Timothee did an amazing job as his character. Steve did an amazing job as his character. The highs and lows of this movie portray the real life of an addict. Bawled my eyes out the entire time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Read all reviews
