The story consists of the relationship between a boy and his father and the toll of substance abuse. In the film, character development is visible with the changes in lighting and the way the characters act and are presented with changes in costume/makeup. The emotion in this movie is the most touching piece within the film, the actors capture the struggle of addiction in thrilling detail. At the climax of the plotline, there is a lot of light work to capture the scene’s intensity. Overall, the purpose of the film is to educate the audience about the reality of substance abuse and addiction.

Beautiful boy is a great movie about the struggles of addiction and also the struggles of watching someone go through addiction. It is 2 hours long but really breaks down the emotional toll addiction has on him. The movie is only on prime video so you would have to buy it for 15 dollars or rent for 5 dollars but it is 100% worth it. The acting a so good and represents addiction in such a beautiful way. It is definitely a very sad movie so if you are looking for that this is the movie for you but if you don’t want to cry you eyes out this is not the movie for you.
