James Jackson Times (UK) A "window into his inner world" that was quietly superb throughout. Rated: 4/5 Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Jessica Kiang The Playlist And so Becoming Cary Grant falls into that disappointing category of a documentary that, in wanting to do its subject a favor, actually does him a disservice. Rated: C+ Jun 12, 2017 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The film has an interesting meditative pace and a kind of self-sufficient weight. Jun 9, 2017 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said This masterfully made film is about the universality of our mere humanity, and how being the biggest star on earth can't heal a broken soul. Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net As a film lover and someone interested in human experience I thought it was great. Rated: B+ Mar 12, 2019 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The revealing film takes us on a penetrating inner trip of the star and his turmoil about who he really is. kevin w A look at the life of a child who was more or less abandoned, discarded, who went on to become one of the most popular movie stars ever. What becomes clear is that all the riches the world had to offer couldn't compensate for that first of slights delivered to an impressionable young mind. So yes, there's the glitter of fame, the famous people, the travels, the luxuries, the fun, but all worthless before the ultimate question of self-worth. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I grew up in the 80's so I can honestly say I have never seen a film with Cary Grant in it however I could not resist watching this documentary. I though it was quite interesting and well done Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The LSD trip seemed to take away from the legend. It was informative for fans. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/05/17 Full Review Audience Member There is a lot of fascinating info here including some wonderful home movies. Unfortunately the editing is quite poor. There is very little continuity and almost no indication of the time of a clip and rarely any names. The constant showing of a man (his psychiatrist?) smoking while Cary is on a bed in an LSD trip gets silly after the first occurrence. Overall interesting but could have been way better.
