Sarah Boslaugh Playback:stl Becoming Chaz is a hopeful film and includes a brief sidebar about younger transgender children who... will be spared the agony of going through decades of their lives trapped in the wrong body. Audience Member The transformation of Chaz Bono is fascinating to watch. He is a tremendously captivating fellow who finally is able to enjoy the body that he should have naturally been provided with. Cher's limited role in the film reflects her overall discomfort and gradual acceptance of what her daughter evolves into. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A very personal look at someone (albeit the child of someone famous) who transitions from female to male. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Very revealing, surprised Chastity (Chaz) Bono was so open about his life and journey with the viewers. Cameras were filming inside his home where he lives with his girlfriend at the time. His journey has been a rollercoaster ride and glad to see that now (after the documentary was released) he lost about 65 pounds, seems happier and maybe he is single again. His Facebook page shows an interview done on the show The Doctors where his new look is revealed. He comes across as a confident and very masculine man, you would never guess he was a woman if you did not know his past. Entertaining, informative, enlightening and it would be nice to meet Chaz Bono (he lives in Los Angeles as well). The documentary is available on Netflix instant streaming, so check it out.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent doco. Feels more focused on the challenges of being a famous daughter than exclusively about transitioning. 'Southern Comfort' documentary and 'Transamerica' film are superior choices for people who don't know a lot about transgender folks but wish to understand. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A very gutsy doc focusing on a ever changing time in Chaz Bono's life where he is going undergoing two physical transformations transitioning from female to male, and how that affects the family around him including his famous mother Cher, and also hitting on various pieces of advocacy for GLADD and transgender people. Also it is very raw and emotional engaging watching the changing dynamic between Chaz and his girlfriend Jennifer going through the various changes, attention and changes in personality that put strains on the relationship and see them power through it all. Very intriguing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This was okay, but just okay. I don't know -- I just felt like it could have been better - it felt like it wasn't as deep as it could have been. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
