Audience Member This very well kept secret of a film stares straight at sex--scripted sex, acted sex, improvised, deeply felt, and finally over into obsessive sex because the lost uniquie opportunty has fallen into the past. Bedways looks very closely at how it feels without teasing or rigging or indulging in all the phony playact sex in hard and soft porn and esp. in mainstream movies where every frame of sex is contractual and market-dictated. When Bedways feels confusing and hesitant, it is communicating how insane and vulnerable, how fragile a small, personal yet ambitious film must be to make. Kahl manages to implant in this gem of a film what is so very difficult about wanting to make very good, honest art: it gets personal; it gets to you; and it keeps trying to change you. I only saw this on streaming Netflix, but there are numerous scenes I find unforgettable in the most powerful and immportant way. I think that, like Eustach's much-ignored The Mother and the Whore from the '70s, this film will haunt those who gave it a chance until they realize it could be a classic, getting at parts of being human almost no one else has potrayed without embarrassing the audience. sam I forgot to mention, this is a very lively, well-made film that's a lot of fun. There's a few moments of explicit sex, but this is a German art film, so the characters pause to wonder whether God exists, quote Foucalt, and watch an industrial dance music band whose singer gyrates like one of the dancers from "Sprockets."
